Myra
MAiD & VSED facilitation: YES
Myra is a folk artist who came to deathwork via photography. College in the early 90s was a long time ago and wound up having almost nothing to do with where she is today. Instead, a life spent working in offices and pursuing art slowly laid a path to her work as a death doula.
About 8 years ago, working as a pro bono photographer for organizations providing aid for the unhoused and at-risk communities of Southern Nevada, Myra came face to face with the realities of dying without resources or companionship. This led to a complete shift in how she thought about ways to incorporate community care into her business and a total overhaul of her business model when she moved back to California and started over.
Now, Myra endeavors to incorporate all her skills into a comprehensive set of services and resources for her clients, backed by years of experience & expertise . As a photographer, a musician, and a seamstress - with a fluency in administrative tasks (i.e. paperwork, writing, and planning) - and with a deeply held desire to provide care and ease to people navigating end-of-life choices - she works to uphold dignity, choice, and comfort for the dying.
